Strikeforce Fighter King Mo Lawal get’s caught on Steroids

Strikeforce fighter King Mo Lawal, who is knonw to be one of the bigest trash talker’s in MMA, has a bit of explaining to do. On Tuesday morning, the Nevada State Athletic Commission reported Strikeforce light heavyweight Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (Pictured) had tested positive for drostanolone.

Lawal handed Lorenz Larkin his first professional blemish on January 7th 2012 at “Strikeforce: Rockhold Vs Jardine” by Second round knocking him out in the 2ndRound.

Drostanolone, also known as Masteron, is a powerful anabolic steroid that is typically used by bodybuilders as a bulking and cutting agent. Hermes Franca, Dennis Hallman and Josh Barnett have all been busted for the same drug in the past.

Lawal has denied his use of the substance with multiple news outlets. All of the other fighters that were required to participate in drug screenings for the event passed their exams.

Barring a successful appeal, the former Strikeforce champion faces a year-long suspension, $2,500 fine and having his victory overturned to a no contest.

“Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” took place inside The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Ronda Rousey “Cris Cyborg is an idiot with a penis”

From the files of “Them fightin’ words” comes this latest gem from fearless female fighter Ronda Rousey, who wasn’t too pleased that former Strikeforce  women’s champion Cristiane Santos was posting photos of Gina Carano’s battered face in an attempt to intimidate her.

Santos was recently popped for using steroids in adavance of her 145-pound title defense against Hiroko Yamanaka, who crumbled under the juice of the Brazilian “Cyborg” just last month.

Following her suspension, the “Rowdy” one was vocal about the damage Santos did to the State of Women’s MMA by “cheating” to get a competitive edge.

Cyborg was not amused.

What followed was a war of the words on Twitter, with Rousey dropping today’s bomb:

@criscyborg you don’t just have a dick, you are a dick for posting that picture of Gina, you cheater. Wow Cris Cyborg aka Lou Feriggno has no fucking class. I can’t believe this idiot, after they prove she cheats and that she’s half man she still talks shit.

That’s hitting below the belt. Literally!

Star-divide

Rousey (4-0) burst onto the scene with four straight armbar finishes and has yet to see any bout go longer than 49 seconds. In her spare time, she makes a mockery of the male ego by no-selling balls to the stomach.

The former Olympian will try to prove she can walk the walk in less than two months at the Strikeforce event booked for March 3, 2012, in Columbus Ohio, opposite women’s 135-pound champion Miesha Tate.

And if Cyborg ever makes her way back to Strikeforce following her suspension, expect an epic grudge match to be waiting for her.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva targeted for April UFC Debut against Cain Velasquez

Bigfoot_Silva_180.jpeg

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva may be making his UFC debut with a leap into the deep end this April, as Brazilian site Portal Do Vale Tudo.br reports that “Bigfoot” may face former Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez in April.

That opponent and date reportedly comes from Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, while “Bigfoot’s” manager Alex Davis would only confirm the April date to PVT, saying Velasquez is just “one of the names on the list.”

Silva started off 2011 in a huge way, defeating Fedor Emelianenko in a dominant performance to kick off Strikeforce’s Heavyweight World Grand Prix. However, facing replacement Daniel Cormier in the semifinals instead of Alistair Overeem, “Bigfoot” was taken out in the first round.

If Velasquez is the opponent, it will mark the second AKA heavyweight he’s faced in a row, as Velasquez and Cormier are

Cris Cyborg Santos Suspended for Positive Steroid Test

Cristiane “Cris Cyborg” Santos, widely regarded as the best female fighter in mixed martial arts, has been suspended for testing positive for steroids.

The California State Athletic Commission announced on Friday that it has suspended Cyborg because her drug test following her most recent fight, a 16-second knockout of Hiroko Yamanaka, came back positive for metabolites of the anabolic steroid stanozolol. The result of the Cyborg-Yamanaka fight will be changed to a no decision.

“Our primary concern is for the health and safety of fighters,” CSAC Executive Officer George Dodd said in a statement. “Anabolic agents and other banned substances put not only the users of those agents at risk, but their opponents as well. The commission simply will not tolerate their use.”

The CSAC’s announcement did not say how long Cyborg will be suspended. She has also been fined $2,500.

This is bad news for Cyborg, Strikeforce, Showtime and for all of women’s mixed martial arts. Cyborg has been the most dominant female fighter in the sport and one of the few women who draws fans to Strikeforce broadcasts on Showtime. It also calls into question whether her accomplishments in the cage have always been tainted by the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Women’s MMA, which is struggling just to survive, just saw one of its highest-profile fighters get a major black eye.
