Former UFC fighter “Sugar” Shane Nelson, who trains out of BJ Penn Academy & Boss MMA, is just one day way from his Superior Cage Combat 3 bout against 8-4 Lance Wipf of Xtreme Couture MMA in Las Vegas. Nelson left Hawaii early yesterday to make the trip to Las Vegas with former Hawaii fighter Kennan Kaku and looked focused and ready for his bout against Wipf. Today was the official weigh in’s for SCC 3 and Nelson came in at a comfortable 154.5 pounds for his lightweight bout. This will be Nelson’s Third bout since being let go from the UFC, and has not lost yet. Also fighting on this card will be former UFC fighters James McSweeney “Heavyweight”, John Alessio “Welterweight”, and Robert Emerson “Lightweight” Just to name a few.
Other Fighter’s on this card with Hawaii ties are Patrick Gonsalves-Kahano,and Sidney Silva. Kahano, who is born out of Oahu, Hawaii but has been calling Las Vegas home for some time now, train’s out of Xtreme Couture and has a undefeated record of 3-0, and Sidney Silva who is from Brazil, but has at one time called Hawaii home, fought on Promotions such as Rumble on The Rock, ICON Sports, and WEC. This Brazilian Black Belt currently trains fighters out of Wandalei Silva’s Academy in Las Vegas, and holds a record of 8-3.
