Randy Couture say’s Dana White crossed the line with son Ryan Couture

(UFC) Ultimate Fighting Championships President Dana White truly has a way with words, especially when his bitter rivals are the topics of conversation. Randy Couture, former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion and member of the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion’s Hall of Fame, recently got on White’s bad side after “The Natural” left  ZUFFA and FOX and joined up with Spike TV and Bellator. Soon thereafter, the Las Vegas fight boss verbally assaulted  Couture, calling him a liar and saying he “stop being a man when his big toes step out of the cage” If that wasn’t enough, he banned him from cornering his son, Ryan Couture, at UFC events. In fact, “The Natural” can not even buy a ticket to get into his show.

Couture, however, decided to take the high road and not fight fire with fire, staying calm and keeping his words and feelings about his former boss to himself. But, if White decides to talk smack about Couture’s family and mess with his son’s livelihood, then it becomes personal.

“The Natural” explained on a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s “The MMA hour”

“I don’t take any of that personal. I don’t really tune into the underground and all that other stuff. People come to me and they say, ‘Oh, he said this and he said that.’ I don’t care; I know what the truth is. I know how I have treated people, how I tried to treat them. And yeah, fighting with them to get a fair shake and be told the truth and, it’s been a struggle all along, from ancillary rights down the line. I don’t take any of that personal. I don’t really tune into it. In the day-to-day running of my life, it’s a small thing. But, when you start talking about somebody’s kids and their family, yeah, you’re crossing the line. I don’t think he would like it if I did those sorts of things to him. I know his wife, I know his kids. He’s got my sons fate in his hands in some way here. With Ryan competing and not allowing me to continue to progress and work with my son in his fight career is ridiculous and that bothers me. It bothers me that he could affect my son’s livelihood. My son has earned his spot. Ryan has done the work, he has the passion for the sport and he’s doing all of the right things. So for him to be hindered and hampered by Dana and Dana’s feelings towards me, it isn’t fair and that bothers me.”

While White has yet to say anything derogatory about Couture’s family — at least not in public — Couture feels preventing him from cornering Ryan like he did two months ago at UFC on Fuel TV 9 in his bout against Ross Pearson is Crossing the line!

Because while he hasn’t bashed junior verbally, White is impeding his progress as an MMA fighter because of the fact that he doesn’t have his father — and mentor — in his ear between rounds giving him tips and instructions.

Something he’s been used to having all of his combat career.

The younger Couture went on to lose his UFC Debut to Ross Pearson via second round technical knockout, a result that may or may not have been prevented had he had his dad in his corner.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT DANA WHITE IS DOING?????

Off the record’ weigh in rules change at UFC 158

The convention in mixed martial arts is to allow a one pound weight allowance for all fights, EXCEPT title bouts, where the fighters must make the numbered weight.

A video recently surfaced, taken shorlty before the UFC 158 weigh in, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs and Assistant General Counsel for the UFC Michael Mersh conveys news from the Quebec AC to Nick Diaz and his camp that things were going to be a little different at the UFC 158 weigh in.

.9 of a pound different.

Mersch comes up to Diaz and shakes his hand. The audio is inaudible at points, but most of the dialogue is clear.

“Here, they’re going to allow you and Georges to have an extra hour,” Mersch says. “Just in case somebody doesn’t make it.”

“But the good news is, they don’t count the decimal. If you’re 170.2 it’s 170. If it’s 170.9. it’s 170.”

A member of the Diaz camp responds, asking “why didn’t we know that before?”

Mersch continues.

“Should be fine, hopefully, other than that. Just so you guys are in the loop, if there’s …”

Again, a member of the Diaz camps responds, asking “why didn’t you tell us that yesterday?”

Mersch continues.

“Well, no,” he says. “It’s just something to keep in mind. That’s kind of an off the record type of thing. But keep that in mind. As long as he’s under 171, we should be good.

“But, there is a time period afterwards, for you and Georges only. All the other fighters have to make it the first time. Just letting you guys be in the loop, okay?”

“Good luck.”

A member of the Diaz camp quips, “that’s a loophole… A Canadian loophole.”

Frankie Edgar takes on Jose Also for UFC Featherweight Title at UFC 153

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar will be getting an immediate title shot when he drops to featherweight after all.

Edgar has replaced 13-1  Erik Koch who was set to face Jose Aldo, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has confirmed. USA Today was the first to break the news.

Koch suffered a knee injury recently and was forced to withdraw from the fight, according to Helwani.

Edgar (14-3-1) has lost his past two fights to UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. He was expected to make his featherweight debut later this year before the injury to Koch.

Koch apologized to his fans on Twitter, stating “I’m sorry guys this has been one crazy year for me deff a hard one, I just wanna thank all of you guys for the support means the world to me.”

Aldo (21-1), who has won 14 straight fights, was critical of former UFC champion Edgar recently in an interview with Tatame.

“He said he wants to drop to featherweight, so I’m hoping he does that to end this story,” Aldo told Tatame.com. “He’s welcome here so that we can shut him off and he goes to the lightweight or bantamweight classes.”

UFC 153 is scheduled for October 13, 2012 at the HSBC Arena in Brazil

Jason Mayhem Miller Arrested for Burglary

Recently-axed UFC fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller was arrested today in Orange County, TMZ has learned — after allegedly breaking into a church, spraying a fire extinguisher all over the place, and getting buck naked.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the O.C. Sheriff’s Office received a call early this morning from the Mission Hills Church in Mission Viejo about a possible burglary in progress.

When the deputies arrived, we’re told they found the first and second floors covered in white fire extinguisher spray. Cops say the place was also trashed — scattered CDs, books, and broken pictures.

When officers reached the second floor, we’re told they found Miller naked on some couch — totally awake and coherent.

Miller — who also hosted the MTV reality show “Bully Beatdown” — was taken into custody for burglary, and is currently being medically evaluated. It’s unclear if Miller was under the influence.

It’s worth noting — UFC honcho Dana White cut Miller earlier this year, claiming “some crazy sh*t happened backstage” at UFC 146 and Miller was fired.

Miller and White went back at it on Twitter recently, with Miller telling White to “kill yourself.” Calls to Miller’s rep were not returned.

Rory McDonald out of UFC 152 Bout with BJ Penn

A major cut suffered in training that required several stitches will keep Rory MacDonald from a highly anticipated welterweight fight against B.J. Penn at UFC 152 next month.

UFC President Dana White on Saturday told MMAjunkie.com of the injury following Saturday’s post-event news conference for UFC on FOX 4, which took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

MacDonald (13-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Penn (16-8-2 MMA, 12-7-2 UFC) had been booked for the main card of UFC 152, which is set for Sept. 22 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

White said MacDonald’s cut is over his left eye and said he only found out Saturday night. White said UFC matchmaker Joe Silva showed him a picture of the deep cut.

White also said he has not yet informed Penn that MacDonald is out of the fight and doesn’t know if Penn will remain on the card.

“Rory’s out. He got cut open today. Wide open – 38, 48 stitches, something like that,” White said. “No contact for a month. (The fight is) off. I found out tonight, halfway through the show.”

Penn announced a somewhat informal retirement after a unanimous decision loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 137 in October 2011. But MacDonald was able to lure him out for the fight earlier this summer, calling out the former two-division champion.

In recent weeks, the fight was in the news when both fighters agreed to undergo regular pre-fight drug testing through the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association.
