Max Holloway set to take on Dennis Bermudez

Two surging featherweights will collide at UFC 160, promotion officials announced Thursday, as Dennis Bermudez faces Max Holloway.

UFC 160 takes place May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a heavyweight title rematch pitting reigning champion Cain Velasquez against former EliteXC belt holder Antonio Silva. The evening’s main card will also see four heavy hitters lock horns, as Mark Hunt faces Junior dos Santos and James Te Huna meets Glover Teixeira.

Bermudez, 26, rides a three-fight winning streak heading into his showdown with Holloway. “The Menace” introduced himself to UFC fans as a member of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 before falling to Diego Brandao at the live finale in December 2011. The prospect has since gone unbeaten, notching wins over Pablo Garza, Tommy Hayden and Matt Grice, whom Bermudez most recently topped in a “Fight of the Night” winning bout at UFC 157 last month.

Like his foe, Holloway has also won three straight fights, posting a 3-1 record last year. After submitting to Dustin Poirier in his Octagon debut, Holloway, 21, thoroughly outpointed Pat Schilling before knocking out “TUF 14” vet Justin Lawrence last August. Most recently, “Blessed” edged the hard-swinging Leonard Garcia in a Dec. 29 split decision at UFC 155.

Jon Jones Vs Dan Henderson set for UFC 151

As expected, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title against Dan Henderson on September 1, 2012, in the main event of UFC 151.

The championship match-up, which will be Jones’ first title defense in Las Vegas, was announced by UFC President Dana White via Twitter late Wednesday night.

Jones (16-1), of course, recently retained his title by dominating longtime rival Rashad Evans over the course of five rounds en route to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 145. The match marked the first time the 24-year-old reached the judges’ scorecards since a 2009 victory over Stephan Bonnar.

Ultimately, Henderson serves as one of the final top-10 fighters in Jones’ path, as the young champion has essentially cleaned out the 205-pound division in a span of 14 months after an unprecedented string of victories over Ryan Bader,Shogun Rua, Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans.

However, at a spry 41 years old, Henderson (29-8) possesses one of the most celebrated résumés in mixed martial arts history, claiming multiple titles across weight classes while picking up notable wins over Fedor Emelinenko,Michael Bisping,Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

He last fought at UFC 139, besting Shogun Rua in a legendary war of attrition that many believed to be one of the greatest MMA fights of all time.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones set for UFC 145 in Atlanta

According to MMAFighting.com, reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will put his title on the line for the third time at UFC 145 in Atlanta, Georgia. The event is set for April 21st, with Brendan Schaub vs. Ben Rothwell and Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills as the most intriguing match-ups currently confirmed for the card.

Jones revealed during UFC on FX 1 post-fight show that he’s “hearing rumors” about a possible return at UFC 145, adding that Rashad Evans, Phil Davis and Dan Henderson are all in the mix for a shot at the title.

Apri 21st date works against Rashad Evans and Phil Davis, who will have to avoid serious injuries during their encounter at next weekend’s fight card. UFC 145 gives three months of preparation for the UFC on FOX 2 winner, something that could work in Jon Jones’ favor. Such situation raises Dan Henderson’s cahnces to get a title shot to 50%, especially since the UFC President Dana White still refuses to give a clear statement about Phil Davis’ place in the mix.

Jon Jones himself had one month to prepare for the fight with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128, after beating Ryan Bader at UFC 126. Jones went on to defeat Rua via TKO in Round 3, becoming the youngest ever champion in the UFC history.

Bones fought four times in 2011, more than any champion in the UFC.
