Hawaii’s newest MMA fighter to be asked into the UFC is Hawaii’s own Max “Blessed” Holloway, he is winding down his first day of fight week for UFC 143. While the Mandalay bay is far from his home in Waianae,HI you know he is enjoying the treatment that all UFC fighter’s receive from the UFC. Signing autographs, talking with UFC Officials, making sure his weight is on point with Burt Watson, but don’t get it wrong Max is the type of fighter that always stays focused and remembers the ask at hand. After all he is finally where all MMA fighters work so hard to be and now that he recently entered Fatherhood and has a family to look after his opponent Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier would do good not to look past him.
On paper Poirier is the heavy favorite, but if you ask Max, being the underdog is something he not only relishes, but is actually accustom to, and more often then not prove’s people wrong. From his first Amateur fight he has heard comment’s such as “He is being thrown to the wolves” or “That’s a bad match for him”, but now as a Pro his record stand’s at 4-0 and has win’s over the likes of Bryson Kamaka, Harris Sarmiento, and Duke Saragosa. Mmaabsolute.com will be paying close attention to Max’s UFC Debut and will be posting it on our website. Good luck Max!!!!!

Hawaii’s Max “Blessed” Holloway” is less then a month away from fulfilling his dream of fighting in the World’s Premier MMA Organization, the UFC. After compiling an undefeated record of 4-0, in which he has won the X-1 World Lightweight Title, Max has Verbally agreed to fight hard-hitting Dustin Poirer who currently hold’s a record of 11-1 and is 3-0 in the UFC. Poirer is also ranked #5 in the Featherweight Division by MMAWeekly, and train’s at Gladiator LA, under Tim Credeur. Poirer is stopped all but two of his win’s by either submission or Knock Out. Holloway however is no stranger from being consider the underdog. In a past interview with Mmaabsolute.com Holloway commented on “fighting the top guy’s is nothing new to him”. Holloway who currently train’s with Gracie Technics, has fought, and beat some of Hawaii’s best fighter’s like WEC , & Strikeforce Veteran Harris Sarmiento,KOTC,& Strikeforce Veteran Bryson Kamaka, and most recently Eddie Rincon at UIC 5 in Maui. When asked how he feel’s about fighting in the UFC Holloway stated “I can’t express my feeling’s, it’s overwhelming.” and when asked how does he plan on getting the win in Feb Holloway wnet on to say “I plan on doing what I’m strong at Striking, and keep the fight at my pace”.
UFC 143 takes place on Feb. 4 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, and well be the first time Holloway will be fighting in LasVegas, but with his most resent trip to San Diego to train with another Top UFC Lightweight fighter Jeremy Stephens, the travel should not be a problem for one of Hawaii’s friendliest fighter’s. Below are other fight’s that will be held at UFC 143
